Marc Reijnders

Marc Reijnders appointed new director of NAE

Marc Reijnders took up his position as director of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering Sciences on 1 August. He holds a degree in technical physics (Delft University of Technology). Marc began his career as a process engineer in the international pulp and paper industry. During that period, he lived as an expatriate on several continents for seven years, where he worked on the construction and operation of paper mills.

After a few detours in investment banking and management consulting, Marc has spent the last ten years working on the theme of “sustainable packaging” and waste recycling in the Netherlands. For the past five years, he has been director of the FieldLab Circular Packaging (FLCP) foundation, a partnership between brand owners and recycling companies working on the above-mentioned theme. Marc lives with his family in Haarlem and in his spare time can often be found at sea, where he enjoys kitesurfing.

Marc is looking forward to his new challenge: ‘There is still a lot to learn, but with a professional team, great work has been done over the past three years, which I would like to build on. We will further expand the network with Fellows and Young Engineers and continue to professionalise the agency. We are also working on inviting a select group of technical companies to become partners of NAE.’
